Ministry of Education (MoE), Govt. of India has established ‘MoE’s Innovation Cell (MIC)’ to systematically foster the culture of Innovation among all Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). The primary mandate of MIC is to encourage, inspire and nurture young students by supporting them to work with new ideas and transform them into prototypes while they are informative years.

MIC has envisioned encouraging creation of ‘Institution’s Innovation Council (IICs) across selected HEIs. A network of IICs are established to promote innovation and entrepreneurship in the Institution through multitudinous modes leading to an innovation promotion ecosystem in the campuses.  MIC has established Institution's Innovation Council in more than 2700 Institutions till December 2021.

Journey of IIC established at the Institute

Noida Institute of Engineering & Technology, Greater Noida, U. P. (IIC ID-IC201810590) has established Institution Innovation Council (IIC) as per the norms of Innovation Cell, Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India, during IIC Calendar year 2018-19. The Main aim of IIC is to mentor and spread awareness on fostering innovation at Institute level. The Activities of IIC to organize and submit reports on various activities such as innovation, IPR, Start-ups and EDP etc. IIC- NIET have achieved highest star ranking in year 2020-21 and selected as a Mentor Institute to help other Mentee Institute who have less star ranking to improve in next year.

Major Focus
  • To create a vibrant local innovation ecosystem.
  • Start-up supporting mechanism in HEIs.
  • Prepare institute for Atal Ranking of institutions on innovation achievements framework.
  • Establish function ecosystem for scouting ideas and pre-incubation of ideas.
  • Develop better cognitive ability among students.
Function of IIC
  • To conduct various Innovation, IPR and entrepreneurship-related activities prescribed by MIC in time bound fashion.
  • Identify and reward innovations and share success stories.
  • Organize periodic workshops/ seminars/ interactions with entrepreneurs, investors, professionals and create a mentor pool for student innovators.
  • Network with peers and national entrepreneurship development organizations.
  • Create an Institution’s Innovation portal to highlight innovative projects carried out by institution’s faculty and students.
  • Organize Hackathons, idea competition, mini-challenges etc. with the involvement of industries.

About IIC 7.0

IICs is a faculty-experts-student council which takes on multiple activities to promote Innovation and Entrepreneurship round the year. IIC’s objective is to prepare the students with skills like critical thinking, Design Thinking, Innovative thought process and Entrepreneurial mindset.

IIC 7.0 is an upgraded version of IIC 1.0, 2.0, 3.0, 4.0, 5.0 & 6.0. Many features regarding monitoring & submission of reports, assessment criteria, star scheme, type of activities etc. have been added on IIC portal. IIC 7.0 is more comprehensive and will be able to establish a strong ecosystem of innovation, IPR and entrepreneurship in HEIs.
