Research
The research focuses on target and fragment-based drug design and discovery aimed at treating various cancers, including pancreatic, breast, and head & neck cancers, by targeting the cellular energetics of cancer cells as opposed to healthy cells. It involves the design and synthesis of small drug-like molecules that inhibit enzymes or proteins overexpressed in cancers, inflammation, and malaria. Additionally, the synthesis of small molecules as G-quadruplex binders is explored to target cancer, bacterial diseases, and drug resistance. The work also includes basic research into the microwave-assisted synthesis and green chemistry of small molecules, as well as the identification of plant-based natural products with potential therapeutic applications.
